Unfortunately, Roland Heintze, chairman of the CDU Hamburg, missed the move into the European Parliament. But as a candidate he wrote us some bright remarks about civil society and voluntary work in associations, foundations, grants and associations:

I was and still am a volunteer myself and know the challenges of volunteering. Therefore, I can support the commitment of Axel Voss in the context of his parliamentary question for the creation of the conditions for European associations of 17 December 2015 (http://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-8-2015-015971_DE.html_DE.html (http://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-8-2015-015971_DE.html_DE.html)). However, it is important that a potential, future European association law complements the national regulations and does not run counter to them. Like the CDU and CSU, like the EPP as a whole, I stand for a Europe close to its citizens and like the CDU and CSU, like the EPP as a whole, I stand for a democratic Europe. Such a Europe also needs extra-parliamentary initiatives and associations which, in the context of European policy, help to shape our decision-making and inspire enthusiasm for participation. We must create lasting structures for a high turnout and a high level of European identification in line with our European Way of Life. Accordingly, I will gladly support initiatives that strengthen our sense of community as Europeans.

Thank you, Roland Heintze! We rely on your support from Hamburg!
