The Franco-German senior citizens’ network PAMINA demands a single Franco-German association law. It is argued this would be a consequence of often-heard demands for greater involvement of the civil society:

We are firmly convinced that, as in the municipalities of the respective countries, the work of associations has important identity-forming, community-promoting functions and is equally essential for further progress, especially in the border regions, including our PAMINA region. This also requires an involvement of the citizens within the framework of a single Franco-German association statute.
